Fathers Day!

My Dad passed away when I was 12 years old...My Mom remarried within a year and she did a very good job of choosing! Floyd Slack had 2 son's and willing took on 3 more kids...age 13, 11 & 9. He didn't realize what he was getting himself into!!! (Oh & by the way I was the oldest & the only girl!) He has been there for me in many ways that I can't even say. He gave me away at my wedding. He has been Grandpa to my kids and Great Grandpa to the grandkids!
He enjoys giving tractor rides! He is a wonderful Christian Man and I am proud to say he is my Dad.
My Brother Mike had to go home to Denver on Fathers' Day...but first he and Floyd came to my house to pick up a cd of pictures! I had realized the night before that I had not taken a pic of these two together!!!
Happy Fathers Day!

A Family Reunion...

One more summer family reunion!!! This week my brother Mike came from Colorado to visit! We took the chance to take a few pics of the siblings! From left to right - Me, Dan, Tim, Mike and Mom in front! We couldn't actually put a date to the last time we had all been together in the same place! It was nice to get the time together! Our newest member of the family came for dinner too! Reese Haas was born on May 11th! She is a beautiful tiny little thing!!!
Her brother, Ryder really loves her and is very sweet with her!

More adorable pics of my family...except for the last photo!!! Les tried out Matt's dry-wall stilts and did a great job and so I thought I should try them too. Mid-life crisis?
Well, I looked ridiculous ,
scratched Matt's truck and gave myself bruises on the backs of both legs! Luckily, no broken legs!! (My feet were too small and my legs too shout!)

A Whirlwind Life

It has been a whirlwind of a life...mostly good, some sad...lots of fun!!! Here is what has been going on for the last 30 days or so!!!
Les & I went on a trip to the Oregon Coast, Crater Lake & Klameth Falls Oregon with his brother Jim & wife Debi.
They came home with us and we had many family type events...bbq on Memorial Day with family & friends etc.
Drew graduated from Kindergarten & school ended for the year.
Les' brother George passed away and Jim & Debi made the 15 hour drive back from AZ for memorial service.
Matt & Janet, Jennifer & Kids arrived for a family week! We did fun things like Turtle Bay, Mesquito Serenade, lots of play time for the kids, Segway tour for the adults with lunch after! Then a day at Shasta Lake!
Les had all of his normal responsibilities in between all of the extra events and I had a Planning Commission meeting in which my family decided to show up and give me a hard time! We went to Riley's swim session with signs made to encourage her! Drew got baptised by her PaPa! We went to Grandpa and Grandma's house for lunch and tractor rides. We had a professional photographer come and take pics of the 7 kids (can't wait to see the proofs!)...I have soooo many pictures of all of the different events I will add a few to this post and hopefully a few more later on!!!

Redding Rodeo!!!

Les & I attended the Redding Rodeo on Saturday night! We get free tickets and preferred parking and we get to sit in the President's Box!!! We went two years ago (missed last year because of vacation!) and had a great time. Molly had been with us and we only had 2 box tickets so she sat with the Knowles Family! The kids came and hung out with us part of the time and it was fun! This year it was just the two of us. It had been over 100 degrees and we were a little worried about melting during the show but it wasn't bad, our box was in the shade and as soon as the sun went down it was very nice! I had my phone with me so these are i-phone pics!!! The Budweiser wagon pics are dedicated to Matt!!! Very talented team & crew! The announcer's horse' name was Marshmallow...he brought it close so that the kids in the box could pet it! It was a sold out crowd...seemed pretty well behaved for this type of event! I wanted to take a photo of the program and afterwards we set it on the chair next to Les...someone came and tore the corner off of it for some reason...not very nice!!! Next year we will try to go the same night as the kids! We will contribute to their junkfood intake!!! Papa needs to share instead of eating it all himself!!!

Lady Justice

Baby Face Baugh and Sheriff Tom "Bookem" Bosenko on the steps of the old Shasta County Jail...Baby Face is up on charges of talking too much, could mean life.

Bookem has his eye on another potential jailbird... a respected member of the press but arch-enemy Silas Lyons (will be charged for false reporting)

Lady Justice watches the injustice that is happening. Judge Dagg (known as the hanging judge) is waiting to see how much $$ Prisoner Lyons can come up with for bail...he had to borrow :-(

Mr Lyon's had his tour guide as a personal reference. Her name is Candy Balma, She has a lot of clout with the court because she is the daughter of former Sheriff John Balma...he was the longest elected sheriff in the history of the county. You can see his picture and a couple of his famous hats in the pic below!

Silas was booked and given a long number as his new name. The Bank Robber was still armed (somehow that was missed in his pat down?)
while he was being booked. The Trustee...(it was pointed out that this was a misnome)...who trusts a prisoner?) was in charge of the evenings bookings!
Dinner was served to all prisoners by the Crystal Creek Boys and entertainment was provided by Lew White and the Jailbirds!!!
So many people were booked through Shasta County Jail that they wore holes in the linoleum in front of the window!
This was all fun in the name of Lady Justice...she has been so vandalized that she needs a repair job. Her sword has been stolen, her scales are gone, somebody broke off her fingers and then beat her backside in...poor thing looks so bad that she has been hiding in the jail for quite a few years now. It is hoped that with some fundraisers and public knowledge she can be restored to her former glory and put back on display in front of the new courthouse when it is built in Anderson!!!
Right, Baby Face?!!!
