Life's twists & Turns

I am so sad...things at our house have changed drastically...I thought that this was going to be a very eventful summer and now it is going to just be...I don't know what.
Molly has gone back home to Sacramento, Daisy had a false pregnancy,no trips planned...
I know that God is in control, but sometimes you just have to ask WHY??????
I will do my best not to wallow in my sadness and really lean on Him for the comfort and answers that are needed. I will do what I can to be the best wife, mother, grandma, friend, etc that I can be...but I am so sad...
Our rocks will get moved for sure now! I have lots of extra time. We will have fewer weeds, I will spend more time in the church garden...I will spend time with different people....I will get through this.

What did you do today?

I had a very busy Wednesday! I got up at about 6:30...just because I was awake! I then leisurely prepared for my day! At 8am I was due to meet the April Clean Up crew at the corner of Knobcone & Lodgepole Avenue! We were given a safety meeting and issued a very homely orange reflective vest...Pretty!!! Unfortunately for me, it was raining! It was very nice weather on Tuesday...Oh well! ANYWAY...we then began unloading the pickup trucks & vans that began streaming toward us, and the ladies house who was next to the WM dumpster (she just kept bringing stuff out of her house, garage & backyard!)
We quickly filled one 60 yard dumpster when we began to drive through the neighborhood in a caravan. A pick-up, a pick-up with a large trailer, & then an unmarked police car carrying more guys to do the heavy lifting! I rode in the one with the trailer. The driver's name was Duane and he was a Citizen on Patrol Volunteer. A very nice guy who partners with his wife to go out and do the hard job of telling people that they can't park vehicles in their front yards, and tag abandoned cars in our city!
By the end of the day we had filled two 60 yd dumps of just general garbage, 2/3 of a truck with e-waste. One dumpster just of metal and one large enclosed trailer of furniture,,,plus a large trailer of bicycles! Then we got a call from 2 people in the neighborhood who needed help removing their junk, so we also had a trailer and 2 pick-up trucks filled....
Let me just say that I was a tired girl by the end of the day (2:30 pm!), but I was very happy to have participated! I got to meet some great people who just wanted to make Anderson a better place to live!

beautiful Robins!

I have always loved Robins! I love how they look, sing, hop around looking for worms...you understand! If asked what my favorite bird is I would have to say Robins! I have always liked hummingbirds and eagles but as even an early memory I thought Robins were beautiful! They came to visit our house on Sunday! HUNDREDS of them! I spent over an hour outside yesterday trying to take pictures of them. But pictures just don't do the shear numbers justice! I took several videos of the tree that they were eating berries off of. The tree actually quivered with the activity!
It was really cold outside but I am so glad that I did it because they stripped the tree completely of all of it's berries and have moved on today...I was kinda sad, but I took over an hour to clean the aftermath off today! I am trying to add the photos to this post but who knows!!! They will be here some where!!!! I hope you enjoy these few that I am posting! I do have to say that the cats and Daisy were all in a crazy state of mind because of so many birds in the back yard! Spike even was a target for their poop!!!! Poor guy...no respect!

It's TACO TUESDAY!!!!!

Here is what I gave to our family for Valentines day! I heard about this at the beauty salon! A lady said she thought Anderson was such a fun place on Tuesdays and this and the deal that the Prime Cinema gives on Tuesdays was the reason!
Burrito Bandito will give us a free taco if we wear the shirt in on Tuesdays! The tacos cost about 3.50 each and the shirt was 12.00 (we have had 2 tuesdays so far and we will only need one more tuesday to pay for the shirts!!! They are big & yummy! And it is a fun new tradition!!!

Evolution...Unevolution????

De-Evolution....??? What would it be called when something is going back to what it was originally?? When we moved to our house there were some very large plants in the front & back yards...lots of bulbs stuck here and there...not much in the way of formal plantings. As the years went by we started to add a few tree roses in the front yard then removed them, traveled to Ferndale CA and saw a beautiful victorian mansion there with a gorgeous yard. Les wanted to have that house and yard and since it wasn't going to happen as a package deal he settled for the yard on a much smaller scale...now, we have lived in our house over 35 years and we are changing the yard again. The main thing that the mansion had was a formal boxwood hedge that went all around to border the lawn. Those hedges have been a trademark of our yard but they had grown way out of control. I have tried for the last two years to get them under some control but started dreaming of an english cottage type garden. Whenever I see a photo of one I just drool! They are so beautiful!
Well, last week while I was out of town with Molly,Les and a friend pulled out all of the boxwood hedges, plus the boxwood shrubs that were in front of the house! The yard looks great already! So much larger!!! I am already removing rocks and dreaming of beautiful flowers!!!
I will try and post some photos soon!!!
