I have been called a foodie!

I am so excited! I have been classified as a foodie!!!
I had a planning commission meeting tonight and the City Planner called me that! I had to think about it for a while but I think this is quite funny! I would actually call him the same thing! Kim and I went to the Cascade and participated in one of the four weeks where they had a Food movie and restaurants came and tried to make food and an alcholholic beverage to go with the theme of the movie...We went to Like Water for Chocolate (it was in Spanish so we had to actually read the movie!) We had read the book and thought it was a weird book and it was a very wierd movie!!! the food was done by the Tapas restaurant in Redding and they made a moule' which had chocolate in it. It was way too hot for me and we didn't buy the beverage so we ended up going and splitting a pizza when the movie was over!!! It was fun anyway! Then last week Kim and I went to the Julie and Julia movie on openning day. It was the midnight showing on Thursday night which really is Friday morning but we left the house and got to the theater by 11:00 so that we could get great seats!
We were the first ones in the theater and just a few minutes before the movie started 3 more people came in!!! We did have the best seats!!! The movie was so good. I gave it 2 thumbs up!
Kim just got the book from the library and says the movie is very different! Oh well!!! I am a foodie!!!! I guess I will have to figure out what else I need to do to keep this title!!! What do you suggest? Oh we saw the city planner and his wife at the Cascade and he told me they had gone and seen J&J and really enjoyed it!

Yard Work...

Thursday morning I decided to get out and do some work in the yard...just a couple of hours worth...well to make a long story short, I moved about 300 bricks from one side of the house to the other and decided to move this oldwashing machine too...well, I somehow broke a water pipe and my couple of hours turned into an all day thing Thankfully Floyd was able to come and help me and repair it. It looks like it might have been leaking for a while. He also cut down some small trees that were too big for me to clip but had really been bothering me! I will post more pics of the yard another time!

We had a very nice day!

Wednesday morning Riley and Drew got the choice to play in the water before lunch or to scrapbook first and then play in the water after lunch...they decided to scrapbook before lunch and do the water later. Scrapbooking was so much fun that they never did play in the water! Even Collin got to do his first bit of stickers and coloring! He lasted about 5 minutes!!! He played outside in the backyard with Drew some and rode the horse some! He gave Minnie Mouse a ride on the horse too! He loves Minnie as much as the girls do! It was a very nice day!
Oh, and my Cricut was delivered and we played with it too! It will be a lot of fun to use!

Happy Birthday to Matt!!!

My son Matt is such a special guy! Let me tell you about him...he is fun to be around and has a great sense of humor. He also is good at his job (he drives for UPS), the people he delivers to like him and the company is lucky to have him cause he does his best to get his deliveries done in a timely manner. If they asked me I would tell them so! He enjoys learning about stuff and is GREAT when it comes to computers. He is always willing to help me when I have a problem with mine! He has a wonderful girlfriend Janet and they are crazy about each other! I hope and pray that they will get married soon! He has a great heart and is a good friend...I have really enjoyed meeting his friends when we have visited with him! He is very generous and thoughtful, remembering birthdays of his nieces and nephews and sending them gifts plus a phone call. We are so proud that he is our son and wish that we lived closer together so that we could spend more time with him!
Happy Birthday Matt, I love you very much!

Taking the time to blog...

I seem to never have the energy when I have the time to blog! Summer is supposed to be a time to slow down and smell the roses,(right???) but this summer has been the time to work really hard in the jungle (aka our yard) and make sure to get everyone to the correct places at the correct times!!! It has been an emotional season, very busy and draining in every way!!! Here are a few pics of some of the events of the summer!
Unfortunately I don't know how to label each pic individually so here is a clue to what is going on!
To make it more interesting, they aren't in correct order either! Oh well...Lydia had a ballet recital in Sacramento and Riley & Drew traveled with me to see her dance! She did a beautiful job!
Riley Drew and Collin all had swimming at Sun Oaks...Riley was in a 4 day program and Drew and Collin each had lessons!
Our church was blessed to buy 61/2 acres with a great building so we bid our cute little building on East Center St good bye.
Dan Tim and I went to Nevada City to visit our Aunt Marie, It was a great time for the three of us and she was glad` to see us.
Collin got a big boy hair cut last week and Katie put gel in it and spiked it up! He looks very 2 now!
You can see the difference from the pics from his birthday! Which was a fun time...all of the cousins together and many friends at the party too!
Riley got to go to Horseback Riding Camp for a week and she loved it!
We held our regular 3rd of July Party and had about 60 people in our front yard for fireworks!
Les & Kim Faires joined us for the McConnell Party that was held in the Paul Bunyon Camp at Turtle Bay for the 4th of July Fireworks in Redding! Ice Cream was provided!!!
A couple of pics of what the front yard looked like when I first got started on the clean up!
AND...we still have about 3 weeks before school starts!!! Fun Fun!!
We are also working to close M before the end of August! Stay tuned..I promise I will try to blog more often!!

My Dad passed away when I was 12 years old...My Mom remarried within a year and she did a very good job of choosing! Floyd Slack had 2 son's and willing took on 3 more kids...age 13, 11 & 9. He didn't realize what he was getting himself into!!! (Oh & by the way I was the oldest & the only girl!) He has been there for me in many ways that I can't even say. He gave me away at my wedding. He has been Grandpa to my kids and Great Grandpa to the grandkids!
He enjoys giving tractor rides! He is a wonderful Christian Man and I am proud to say he is my Dad.
My Brother Mike had to go home to Denver on Fathers' Day...but first he and Floyd came to my house to pick up a cd of pictures! I had realized the night before that I had not taken a pic of these two together!!!
